A Gothic mansion surrounded by a barbed-wire topped black metal fence is not your typical scene of teenage angst. But when you're talking about Normal High School, you might as well throw typical out the window. Something strange is happening to the students of this very strange school and newcomer Tessa Wallace has made it her mission to find out what that something is.
When Tessa moved with her mom and sister to the sleepy little town of Normal, she had no idea how abnormal her life would become. That is until her older sister Trina began to change after starting at the local high school. Tessa's not buying that it's just a rebellious phase; not after she sees hundreds of high-schoolers acting the exact same way. But the closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous things will become for everyone involved. Will she be able to find the answers in time, or will her sister become yet another victim of the high school's nefarious history?
Normal High Operation TAZE eBook Courtney Hamilton
This book is far from the genre that I usually read seeing as how I almost always read Christian Fiction. I have never been a fan of zombies and I honestly didn't know if I'd enjoy the book very much. I downloaded it because some family members highly recommended it.This book drew me in from the very beginning. I started it late one night, not expecting to get into it much at all. I was wrong. I had to force myself to put it down so that I could get some sleep and function to take care of my toddler in the morning. The whole next day I found myself thinking about the book and wishing it was nighttime so that I could read more and find out what happened next.
The characters, especially the main character Tessa, are funny and relatable. The story is captivating and not at all what you'd expect. The author has a real talent for keeping you interested and making you care about her characters. There wasn't one moment in the book where I felt the story was too slow or I was bored.
This book is written about junior high and high schoolers, and would be an especially perfect book for a teenager to read. I thoroughly enjoyed it at 24, and I can only imagine I would have loved it more as a teenager. For parents who monitor what their kids read, there are a few swear words. Other than that, there is nothing at all indecent or inappropriate about it.
I was sad when I finished the book. I cannot wait for the author to write and publish more. Even if this isn't the genre you'd normally read or be interested in, you should definitely give it a chance. You won't regret it. I didn't. Highly recommended.

Normal High Operation TAZE eBook Courtney Hamilton Reviews
I loved it it was awesome the ending was sweet and makes me think what do we not know about long story short read this book if you like zombies
This book is amazing! I loved how it kept me in suspense the entire time! Great story about a small town girl who will stop at nothing to figure out what is going on at her sister's school. Hope there is a second book!
This is a fun story with characters I really enjoyed getting to know. The wry humor and plot twists make the story well worth the read. I do hope to see more of Tessa and friends.
Normal High starts out with a sassy, outspoken girl just looking to find her place in her new town of Normal. What happens next is truly not normal. This book was full of fun, feisty, playful witticisms by the main character Tessa, and of teenage drama, oblivion and action. Tessa definitely has a good head on her shoulders when it comes to friendship and love, just maybe not when it comes to thinking before she speaks, which was one of the most lovable things about the character. The writing was not overly descriptive, which allowed for the use of more of the reader's imagination. It was, however, descriptive enough to give you the feeling that Normal was definitely not normal, with it's sunshine and good times on the outside with a good helping of creepy and sinister filling. This was a very fun read and inspiring as well, and would be a great addition to any teenager's reading library.
Keeps you on your toes! Very Exiciting!!! I read it cover to cover in one day you wont be able to stop!
**Update**
The above was written by my 12 year-old daughter who hacked my account ). I would like to give my own review. I read this prior to suggesting it to my daughter. I really enjoyed the reading. It was a fun read that kept me engaged and I had to make myself wait and not flip further to see what would happen. The author does a good job of laying out back-stories and gives good character development. I would recommend this book to any mom of a pre-teen or teenager. Don't let the word Zombie fool you, there's nothing inappropriate here other than two instances of profanity in the entire book. If you peruse your children's reading material this is rare in today's pop-culture tween and teen reads. All around well-written and winner in my book.
Normal High is an ironic title, because the setting is completely not normal, and neither is this book! (But it's not normal in a very good way). Tessa, the main character and narrator, has moved to the town of Normal with her mom and her older sister, Trina, who attends high school. Tessa is still in middle school.
But for a middle schooler, she is incredibly self-possessed and endearing. When Trina starts acting strange, Tessa takes it upon herself to find the root of the problem, and she realizes that it's much more than just regular old teenage angst.
The best part of this book was the plucky heroine and her hilarious voice. I was entertained from start to finish because of the clever narration and irreverent humor. The plot was also well-developed and never predictable. I will definitely read more by this author!
